AKADO to Offer the Updated Dr.Web Anti-virus Service

November 14, 2011

Doctor Web and "AKADO-Stolitsa", a closed joint stock company (CJSC), report on the successful deployment of the new Dr.Web AV-Desk version in the "AKADO" network.

The updated Dr.Web Anti-virus service from one of Russia’s market leaders for Internet anti-virus security services will provide AKADO subscribers with access to enhanced functionality and new Dr.Web protection components as well as alternative methods of paying for the service, and give the provider new tools for administering the anti-virus network.

The development of SaaS technologies and their growing popularity in the consumer segment allow their potential to be used to develop and provide additional subscriber services. During the testing period, Doctor Web and AKADO technical experts jointly configured the service and checked its operation. Today, the competitive advantages of Dr.Web AV-Desk 6.0 are already available to all the operator's customers — they can activate the new service in "My account" at akado.ru.

"We have studied the needs of Internet users, and we are now ready to offer a choice of three subscription options for the updated Dr.Web Anti-virus service, each of which meets the needs of a certain segment of our subscribers. Thus, each subscriber will be able to choose a subscription package with the options that suit them best," said Olga GOLIKOVA, CJSC "AKADO-Stolitsa" Marketing Director.

"Dr.Web AV-Desk is one of our company’s most in-demand products", said Alexander Pushkar, manager of Doctor Web’s Anti-virus Services Division. The release of the new version of the service was another step towards creating the best SaaS solution for providers and their customers. Dr.Web AV-Desk 6.0 has become more user-friendly and functional, while the recommended subscription price for the "Dr.Web Anti-virus" has remained the same. We are pleased that AKADO has performed this deployment, and now its subscribers can take advantage of the service’s new components (the firewall and the Dr. Web for MS Outlook module) and expanded payment options."

About the Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet Service

Doctor Web was the first anti-virus vendor to offer an anti-virus as a service on the Russian market.

The deployment of Dr.Web AV-Desk lets a service provider’s subscribers use the Dr.Web Anti-virus as a service: they can choose how long they want to subscribe, renew their subscriptions automatically, and that means, they can decide for themselves how much they want to spend on anti-virus security. Providing an anti-virus as a service ensures its instant delivery and easy subscription management for home and business customers.

The Dr.Web AV-Desk Internet service was created by Doctor Web in 2007. Today, the number of service providers and partners delivering the Dr.Web AV-Desk service to their customers in different regions of Russia and in the Ukraine, Netherlands, France, Spain, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and Estonia exceeds 350. Following results shown by the service in 2007, Dr.Web AV-Desk was named the “best product offered as a service” by PC Magazine Russia. In September 2008, Dr.Web AV-Desk was awarded the Grand Gold Medal for “most original scientific and technical solution in communications technology” at the ITE Siberian Fair.
